Calfskin Leather
Calfskin is the backbone of the Bella-Verde collection. Its tighter, finer fiber structure keeps the grain smooth and resists creasing, so the leather holds its shape against your wrist instead of stretching out of it.
We work exclusively in full-grain calfskin — the natural top layer of the hide, left uncorrected. It's a more demanding standard, but it's what lets each strap develop a soft patina with wear instead of just wearing out. Sourcing runs through tanneries chosen for lower-impact, chrome-free tanning methods.
Ostrich Leather
Ostrich is the rarest material in our lineup. The raised quill-follicle pattern across the surface is entirely natural, so no two hides — and no two bands — are quite alike.
Our hides come from licensed, farm-raised stock, never wild-caught, with documented chain of custody from farm to tannery. Ostrich leather is naturally more supple than calfskin, so we reinforce the lining to keep that pattern from stretching at the buckle and lugs — the closest thing in the collection to fine jewelry rather than a watch band.
Verde Vegan Leather
Verde is our plant-based alternative, built from bio-based material rather than the petroleum-heavy PU most "vegan leather" still relies on.
It's a newer material category, and it wears differently than animal leather — lighter, and it breaks in rather than develops a patina. What we can promise is what's not in it: every Verde band is PFAS-free and tested against the same harmful-substance standards as our animal leather.
